UK’s Second Largest Altnet selects IP Infusion for network upgrade

Open Transport

IP Infusion announced that Brsk, a UK based broadband provider, is deploying its OcNOS-SP-Plus networking software on Edgecore hardware to aggregate OLT traffic. Brsk, who recently merged with Netomia to become the UK’s second largest altnet behind CityFibre, is rolling out full fibre broadband in the West Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, and West Midlands regions of the UK.

The deployment ensures compatibility with existing vendors Juniper and Nokia while offering the cost saving benefits and operational flexibility open and disaggregated solutions offer.

Indeed, Steve Glendinning, CTO for Brsk commenting on the deployment, noted that “open networking provides significant upfront savings on capital expenses over traditional vendors”.

Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO of IP Infusion added that “this market segment of mixed-use broadband networking plays well with the flexibility that open networking provides, and validates the need for an open networking alternative as an option for network builders.”

OcNOS is the industry’s first full-featured network OS for White Box and this is the latest in a series of successful deployments announced by IP Infusion recently, of which the largest to date was a nationwide network upgrade by Multinet in Pakistan announced in February 2023.
