Open 6G, Open RAN, and digital twins with Northeastern University’s Pedram Johari

What is Open 6G? At Mobile World Congress 2025 Barcelona, I had the opportunity to sit down with Pedram Johari, Principal Research Scientist at the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things at Northeastern University. I asked him about Northeastern’s Open 6G Project and why Open RAN is central to the future of next generation wireless networks. I also asked Pedram about Northeastern University’s Digital Twin project, which is the only Open RAN digital twin initiative funded by the O-RAN ALLIANCE.
